Your First Massage Appointment
We are glad you have chosen Wellspring Centre for Body Balance for your health care. When you arrive in the office you will be welcomed by the front desk. If this is your first appointment please complete the Massage Intake Form before you arrive. On the day of your massage you will be oriented to the layout of the office so you are optimally comfortable. Please check in 15 minutes prior to your appointment to allow for time to take care of administrative duties. At this time feel free to ask any questions about technique, length of time for your massage or cost. It is a good idea to use the restroom and get a drink of water before your session.
The massage therapist will show you to the therapy room. She will review your intake form and ask questions in order to give you the most effective massage for your body. If there is any additional information you would like the therapist to know, now is the time to share that. You will be invited to have your massage in any amount of clothing you are most comfortable. Please note that many sessions include low back work, hip work or upper back and chest work; it may be best to wear minimal to no clothing. The therapist will suggest you begin either face up or down before leaving the room to let you settle onto the table for your session.
What to Expect During Your Session
The therapist will return to the room shortly to begin the session. Your session will be tailored to align with your health goals. It is always appropriate to voice any requests while on the table. If the pressure is too much or little, if the room is too cold or warm please say so!
After your session the therapist will leave the room, feel free to take your time getting off the table to get dressed. Begin by taking some deeper breathes and slowing bring movement to your fingers, toes, hands, feet, arms, legs and neck. The safest way to get off the table is by gently rolling to one side of your body (without rolling off the table :), let your legs hang off the edge of the table and use your arms to press up to sitting.
When you exit the therapy room please let us know if there is anything you need: water, more resting time, another appointment. There are two zero-gravity recliners in our Resting Room for you to fully integrate the experience of your massage if you would like.
