4 Common Causes of Vertigo in Ashland, OR

Vertigo Relief, Dizziness Relief, Dizzy, Meniere’s Relief, Vertigo, Dizziness, Meniere’s , Meniere’s Disease Vertigo gives a person the feeling that either oneself or the surrounding environment is spinning.  Others might experience the feeling of being pulled off balance to one side.  No matter how the person feels, a vertigo episode can be frightening and debilitating, especially while doing something that requires focus such as driving.

Vertigo can be associated with several different conditions.  The most common ones include:

  1. BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo) – caused by crystals that become dislodged within the inner ear and interfere with normal fluid movement in the inner ear
  2. Meniere’s disease – a combination of vertigo, tinnitus, hearing loss, and a feeling of fullness in the affected ear
  3. Labyrinthitis – inflammation that causes both vertigo and loss of hearing
  4. Vestibular neuronitis – inflammation of the nerves responsible for balance within the inner ear

A Natural Solution No Matter the Cause

To effectively treat vertigo, the underlying cause must be addressed.  What all four of these vertigo causing conditions have in common is the disruption of normal signals that are constantly being sent between the brain and body pertaining to its sense of balance.  The nerves are responsible for sending and receiving information that allows for the body to maintain balance.  When there is an interruption of these signals, vertigo symptoms may arise.

One of the major causes of a disruption in normal brain-body communication over the nervous system is an upper cervical misalignment.  The atlas (C1) and axis (C2) vertebrae are normally responsible for protecting the brainstem.  However, through accident or injury, these vertebrae can shift and cause damage to the nerves that carry those signals.  At Wellspring Centre for Body Balance, we can identify if an atlas misalignment is the root cause of your vertigo.  If so, we use the NUCCA technique, an extremely precise and gentle method of bringing the atlas back into its normal alignment.  By restoring the proper communication between the brain and body, your vertigo symptoms may be reduced or go away completely.
